With @RailFinancial, Ripple has just signed its 4th major acquisition in 2 years, and there is clearly a strategy behind it.
May 2023: Metaco - custody in Europe ($250M)
Feb. 2024: Standard Custody - custody in the US (price undisclosed)
Apr. 2025: Hidden Road - liquidity & markets ($1.25B)
Aug. 2025: Rail - stablecoin payment infrastructure ($200M)
The goal of acquiring these companies is to create a complete ecosystem for its stablecoin RLUSD: custody, liquidity, payment rails.
The RLUSD, which was launched in June, circulates on both XRP Ledger AND Ethereum, with a very B2B and institutional approach.
@bgarlinghouse's strategy is therefore coherent.
The only question is the role of the XRP token.
On paper, more flows on the Ripple network should support the demand for XRP, but there is no guarantee that this value will directly translate for token holders. Especially if the volumes are on... Ethereum.
I wouldn't be surprised if RLUSD becomes the central asset of the Ripple galaxy's flows, and XRP remains confined to a technical or secondary role.
In that case, the direct impact on its price could be limited, even marginal.
No such thing as the August doldrums at @Ripple… very excited to share that we’re acquiring @RailFinancial!
Ripple + Rail together will be THE go-to provider of stablecoin payments infrastructure for global financial institutions around the world.
